HOW I'VE CHANGED THE WORLD

Aside from helping to support my family, what have my four decades in business and marketing accomplished? What enduring contributions can I credit to my actions and ideas?

Most Americans under 35 years of age owe part of their good health to their habit of taking nutritional supplements. I proudly take some credit for that habit. My work for Miles Laboratories' Flintstones Chewable Vitamins for Children not only built the brand to category dominance, it caused an important and enduring increase in the rate at which American parents give their kids food supplements.

I've repeatedly helped to build new products and brands that now employ thousands of people. But I can't claim sole credit for that. I've had the privilege of working with any number of gifted associates who trained me well. Thanks to their lessons, I've been instrumental in helping to create seven new companies, five of which continue in operation today, employing nearly two hundred people. I'm particularly proud of that. And now I have the opportunity to pass on my learning to others who call me their mentor.

I am delighted by the actual testimonials offered by clients, peers and subordinates who feel that they have benefited from my counsel. To see what I mean, click here.

I'm also proud that nearly a hundred thousand seasoned citizens have been helped to hear better by my odd invention, Earglasses®. I have close to a hundred unsolicited "thank you" notes on file from grateful customers, many of whom say my ten dollar device works better than their kilobuck hearing aids. This goofy idea became one of those one-in-a-hundred patented inventions that turns a profit. All because I spent my spare time for three lonely years refining the product, its name and positioning, until it could reach the right market.

I'm particularly pleased to hear good reports from readers of my book on how to recover from the loss of an intimate relationship. Readers' praise gives me the same sort of satisfaction that I derived from hiring and training dozens of young people in the business of business.

Giving, not getting, has provided me with my greatest satisfaction.
